Calhoun is an anchor and reporter for KING 5 who enterprises, researches, writes, edits, and investigates local stories for western Washington. She has been a part of the KING 5 team since July 2022. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Julie has had an interest in long-form and investigative storytelling as well as TV news her whole life. 

Upon graduating from the University of Georgia in 2013, Calhoun first joined her media profession while at UoG through their Grady Newsource. After this, she was exposed to the beginning of her profession in December of 2013 through WRDW (a television station in Augusta, Georgia) which provided her to cover national news stories such as the removal of the Confederate flag in the South Carolina Statehouse as well as the Charleston Church Shooting in 2015.

In addition to her experience at WRDW, Julie also served as a reporter for KOKH Fox 25 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she reported on multiple tornado destructions and high-profile court cases. After being on KOKH Fox 25, she was being seen on WBTW (a television station licensed to Florence, South Carolina) as of April 2018, serving as a midday anchor in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During her time at WBTW, she got to investigate, edit, and draft stories while also hosting a special series about human trafficking and marijuana legislation.

Besides being a journalist, Julie represents a single lady in a greater worldwide community that keeps us incorporated and informed in society daily. Most of the time, you will also catch her watching a UGA football game in the fall and cheering on the Dawgs from Seattle.
