Telich anchored Fox 8 sports on the weeknights and produced a variety of features, in addition to operating as a veteran correspondent on countless key events. He also tackles hard physical assignments, such as flying with the Navy’s Blue Angles. For 7 seasons, J.T. was the host of the CAVS pre-game show on Fox Sports Net.
Before joining WJW as a sports anchor in September 1980, J.T. worked as assistant sports director of WIVB TV in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of Euclid High and Ashland College, he commenced his profession in Ashland, Ohio, in 1972 with local radio.
An 11-time Emmy Award winner, J.T. has been honored with numerous awards for his coverage of Cleveland sports, both high school and professional. His features have been recognized by A.P., U.P.I., and The Press Club of Cleveland. In 2007, John was titled to the Hall of Fame by the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters and earned the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club.
A fitness buff, J.T. has completed more than 100 triathlons in the past 27 years, including 3 Ironman Distance races. In 2012, he finished the Burning River 100 Mile Ultra Marathon in just more than 29 hours.
