Ben arrived on Chicago’s Very Own WGN Investigates team in January 2017. Before WGN-TV, he worked for 14 years at WLS-TV, ABC7 in Chicago serving as a weekend morning anchor and a reporter. While reporting for WLS, he has toured the world on various stories including trips to the Caribbean, China, Brazil, and nearly a dozen states.
Ben’s profession commenced in 1994 at KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO as a weather reporter and anchor. He then moved to WCBD-TV in Charleston, SC to serve as a news reporter and weekday morning weather anchor. From 1998-2002, he worked as a weekend anchor and reporter at Tribune-owned CLTV.
In recent years, his effort has been acknowledged with five Emmy Awards for breaking news reportage as well as two Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards for a documentary and investigative reporting on the legacy of former Mayor Richard M. Daley. He is also a representative of the Investigative Editors & Reporters Association and past president of the Chicago Headline Club, which, at the moment, was the nation’s largest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
