After graduating from Kean University in 1992, Scott began his television career at WCBS-TV in New York as a weather producer. Over the next decade, he covered significant weather events, including the “Blizzard of 1996” and the “Superstorm of 1993,” which produced widespread heavy snowfall from Alabama to New York, paralyzing much of the eastern United States. In February 1994, Scott was part of the weather team that won an Emmy for outstanding coverage of a breaking news story.
In the fall of 1998, while still at WCBS, Scott began working on-air for News12, a local cable TV station in New Jersey. There, he served as the weekend weather anchor and took on additional responsibilities during the week.
In the early 2000s, Scott had the opportunity to freelance for WCBS, contributing to the morning and noon shows. Working alongside experienced professionals helped him gain valuable knowledge and improve his skills in meteorology. In the summer of 2005, Scott relocated to the South, living in South Carolina, North Carolina, and later Savannah, Georgia. During this time, he forecasted numerous severe weather events, including Hurricane Matthew, and was part of a weather team that received an award for Best Coverage of a Severe Weather Event.
