Wes will inform you that sharing his love for the weather is one thing he enjoys most. Throughout his occupation, he has visited schools and talked to various organizations throughout the state. He’s also assisted mentor countless successful meteorologists in the weather business today. Wyatt remembers events like the Blizzard of 1993 and states such experiences while growing up in Alabama are the reason he’s a meteorologist today.
Wes hails from Tuscaloosa, so he’s no outsider to Alabama’s changing weather. Before WBRC, he served for seven years at WVUA-TV in Tuscaloosa as Chief Meteorologist. Wes also served at the University of Alabama as an adjunct instructor of Broadcast Meteorology. Prior to WVUA, he served for WTOK-TV in Meridian, MS as a Chief Meteorologist for WTOK-TV. With more than 20 years of experience, Wes has covered some of the most important extreme weather events in Alabama’s history.
He got the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association and the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society. Wyatt is also a busy member of both organizations. As part of the National Weather Association Seal Committee, he partakes in evaluating meteorologists all over the nation.
One of his proudest accomplishments is an honorary resolution from the State of Alabama for his extreme weather coverage in West Alabama. He was also honored as the best weather anchor by the Associated Press in 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2015. If you follow Wes on Facebook, you may find him playing the guitar in his free time.
