He forecasts FOX6 News in the morning from 4 a.m. until 9 a.m. Mickey commenced his occupation in television on the 21st of October 1987, at WJSU-TV in Anniston, Alabama as a news producer. He got his first shot at appearing on the air by agreeing to do morning news updates. “No one else liked to get up and be on at 4:20 a.m., so Mickey jumped at the opportunity.” He soon commenced anchoring and reporting the weekend news. In 1990, he transferred to Birmingham, accepting a position with WBMG-TV, the local CBS affiliate. There, he reported during the week and anchored weekend newscasts.
But after a few eras of television, Mickey chose to take a break and push his hand at working in the family’s cabinet-making business. That didn’t stay long. Since television now had him firmly in its grip, he auditioned for a weekend weather position at WVTM-TV, and his weather profession was born. Once again, Mickey found himself working in morning cut-ins, only this time he produced the weather forecast instead of the news. He loved doing the weather but momentarily found himself looking for a new Television home because of budget cutbacks.
Mickey accepted a position at WSFA-TV in Montgomery where he forecasted the weather and co-hosted the local morning show. Three years afterward when WBRC offered him the morning weather job, he accepted. A few things have altered since Mickey commenced working at WBRC. Good Day, Alabama is currently on for five hours every weekday.
Mickey states he has consistently desired to work for WBRC. It took him 12 years to get there, but currently, onlookers can enjoy his uncommon take on the weather on weekday mornings on Good Day Alabama. The WBRC-TV is happy to have Mickey as part of their family.
