From the juncture he was eight years old, Steele knew he desired to work in the news. As a 3rd-grader, he may not have comprehensively understood the news stories he had on his paper route, but he knew the position was important. Flash forward to college, where he got his commencement as a journalist in Seattle, Washington, writing for diverse neighborhood newspapers and local news websites. Nevertheless, it wasn’t long before Steele realized he could blend his journalism writing skills with his love for storytelling to begin a career in TV news.
After graduating from the University of Washington, he got his 1st TV career as a multimedia journalist at KVAL in Oregon. His love for finding the truth and telling unusual and significant stories quickly honored him with a position as the station’s weekend anchor.
After two years, he became the evening anchor at KVAL’s sister station, the NBC affiliate, KMTR. From there, Steele took a big jump to California, where he was appointed the evening anchor at KTXL and finally landed his dream job at KCRA.
When Steele isn’t anchoring or hunting down community newsmakers on KCRA 3 and My58, you will frequently catch him emceeing for local nonprofits and causes he is devoted to, playing with his girls at one of their favorite parks, or running on one of the endless trails in the area.
