Ashlee commenced at WDIV in 2010 as a general assignment reporter, traffic anchor, and fill-in meteorologist. She then went ahead to WBNS in Columbus, OH serving as a full-time meteorologist for 7 years, climbing the ranks and finally being named the station’s first female Chief Meteorologist.
During that time, she was honored with multiple Emmy nominations including a win for a tough weather special in 2021. She was also awarded “Best Weathercast” by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors 3 times and appointed as Best Weather Person in the Columbus Dispatch’s “CBUS Top Picks” for 4 successive years. Ashlee light-heartedly jokes that one of her largest achievements was getting Buckeye country to like a Michigan Wolverine.
When she’s not occupied chasing after her two little ones or watching the radar, you will likely catch her watching baseball. Ashlee proudly cheers on her better half who is a former Detroit Tiger and currently coach with the Baltimore Orioles. She is also sincere about raising attention for cancer in honor of her parents who are both survivors. In 2013, she and her mom were celebrated as “Heroes of Breast Cancer” by the Karmanos Cancer Institute for their advocacy work. Ashlee also was Miss Michigan 2008 and was a top 10 finalist in the Miss America pageant. She is also a one-time captain of the University of Michigan dance unit.
