Renata also earned an Emmy Award in 2021 for her story on Jacksonville women leaders in the Black Lives Matter movement. That same year she journeyed to Brunswick, Georgia, to report on the historic trial in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. Renata traded tornadoes for hurricanes when she repositioned to Jacksonville from Huntsville, Alabama, Rocket City. While there, she covered the rocket being invented to bring the first people to Mars and interviewed the governor about prison reform following a triple murder.

Before Huntsville, Renata worked in her home state of West Virginia.
