Walsh started his forecasting occupation at KHAS-TV in his hometown of Hastings in 1990. He took over the weather department in 1997 prior to relocating to the Omaha market in 2012 where he forecasted for KMTV. In 2017, he accepted a job at Gray Television and commenced forecasting weather for 10/11 News viewers. John became Chief Meteorologist for NBC Nebraska in early 2020. In November of 2021, he went back to where it all began – forecasting climate for Central Nebraska spectators at KSNB Local4.

Apart from watching the weather, John loves being in it, with outdoor passions as well as the arts. He also likes “attempting” to play guitar. A fan of motorsports, the ‘racer want-to-be is learning race craft, with the ultimate aim of driving shifter karts. John also enjoys skiing, backpacking, climbing, and playing on a senior-league national traveling softball team.
