For two years before joining WJW in the late ‘70s, Wayne served as a reporter/anchor at WNIR Radio in Kent, Ohio. An 11-time Emmy winner, he is a representative of the NAACP, the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, and the National Association of Black Journalists. He is also part of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In 2014, Wayne was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle and also acquired the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club. He was also privileged to receive the William Taylor Alumni Award from the Mass Communications and Journalism School of Kent State University.
