As part of their solution search, Tessa visited New Orleans to find out how that city reformed its police department following a Department of Justice intervention.  She also became a familiar face in Santa Fe during legislative sessions. Tessa also questioned the governor and lawmakers about their aid to improve the Mexican state.

Before moving to New Mexico, Tessa worked as an evening anchor at WTVY News 4 in Dothan, Alabama Area for nearly three years, from Jul 2011 to Feb 2014. While at Alabama, she anchored and helped produce three newscasts every weeknight. Tessa also mentored young producers and reporters  and helped with editorial decisions regarding story selection, angle, and creation ▪

Before working at WTVY News 4, she was a Weekend Anchor/Producer & Weekday Reporter at WTAJ in Altoona, Pennsylvania for 2 years, from Jun 2008 to Jun 2010. Tessa interned Interned at WDTV 5 News and WTAE Hearst Pittsburgh.

She was appointed for a regional Emmy Award for participating in KOB 4’s “4 Our Kids” series, and  ABQ4ward was a runner-up for the coveted Service to America Award.  Mentus also earned numerous awards at her past jobs for breaking news coverage, including a week-long assignment during a hostage situation involving a functional needs child.
