His first on-air role was at the NBC affiliate serving the Palm Springs, CA market. Here, he delivered the weekday evening weathercasts on KMIR 6 News at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. He quickly rose to become Morning Weathercaster, and by 2005, he was promoted to Chief Meteorologist, leading coverage of desert climate challenges.
