One of Lew’s favorite remembrances while working at First Coast News took place at the 2012 Olympics in London. There, while utilizing his media credentials to watch the 100-meter finals, he ran into Usain Bolt. Mr. Bolt, who mistook him for a worker at the Olympic Stadium, asked Lewis to find him a jump rope just moments prior to going out and winning the gold medal. Surreal moments like that have been a blessing in his sixteen-year television profession.
Getting to cover things like the international NFL games, Olympics, nudist colonies, PGA Tour events, elementary school field days, hurricanes, and massive protests, have made Lew extremely lucky to get to do a career he’s wanted since he was in 8th grade. Prior to joining the First Coast News Team, Lewis worked at news stations in South Carolina, Columbia, and St. Louis, Missouri. He received his broadcasting degree from the University of South Carolina and acquired his meteorology degree from the University of Mississippi. In his spare time, Lew enjoys spending time with the family, hitting the gym, and trying to improve his short game on the golf course.
