Letitia grew up in Dayton, Ohio. She was in a single-family home. It was her mom, her younger brother, and her. Her brother still resides in Dayton as well. Her first sign that she wanted to become a journalist came in third grade, at Hickorydale Elementary School, in Dayton. She would spend much of her recess time ‘interviewing her classmates,’ using a stick as a pretend microphone.
Letitia developed a passion for creative writing early on, which led her to pursue journalism, starting with a broadcasting role at her high school. While working full-time at CMU, she was able to have her tuition covered, though it extended her time to complete her degree. Additionally, she participated in the Minority Affairs Faculty Council and advised the ‘Youth Ambassadors For Christ’ gospel choir during her time at the university.
After several years at CMU, Letitia took a job at WCBE-FM in Columbus, closer to her home in Dayton. In the Fall of 1995, she returned to Dayton to work at Hawes-Saunders Broadcast Properties, marking her first role at a commercial radio station, and later became the News and Community Affairs Director at U-92 FM. This move allowed her to reconnect with her community and pursue her career in broadcasting.
Letitia is a distinguished member of the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame, inducted in 2019, and has actively participated in various boards and programs in the Miami Valley. She is passionate about initiatives involving children and seniors, and has served as Mistress of Ceremonies for numerous events, including fundraisers for important causes. Her guiding philosophy is to trust in an all-knowing God for the future.
