During Kenny’s tenure, WJHL-TV’s sports department has earned numerous awards, such as Best Sports Video, Best Sports Story, Best Sports Talk Show, and the Tennessee Associated Press award for Best Sportscast.
During his early years, Kenny played basketball, football, and softball before blowing out a knee during a game. Not to be discouraged, Kenny assisted in creating a high school sports show titled “Sportscenter 7,” which premiered on local cable stations in Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs, and Clinton.
