She is fortunate to say by the time she took a job as a multimedia journalist at WHIO she had received some of the country’s best training from Northwestern University.
Kayla’s journey from Chicago to Dayton commences near her hometown in Rockland County, New York at Manhattan College. There, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, while pitching for their Division 1 Softball Team. Kayla loved playing softball but, unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic cut her senior year short. She knew she wanted to be the best, unbiased journalist she could be. After her undergrad, Kayla made it a priority to get accepted to Northwestern University, and she is proud to have a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism.
While at Northwestern, she was able to report, anchor, and produce for the local cable television show, CAN-TV’s “Chicago This Week.” In addition, Kayla also produced a segment concentrating on local Chicago sports. It was while obtaining her master’s degree, that she also discovered an important Ohio story. Kayla also had the luck of co-creating a short documentary on the Mansfield news organization Richland Source. She is very thrilled to explore all Dayton has to offer. When Kayla is not working, you will most likely catch her out on runs, thrift shopping, or taking my puppy, Cooper, out on walks.
