He serves as an evening co-anchor and reporter at WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana. Short first joined the station in 2018, becoming the area’s first Black journalist assigned to co-anchor a daily newscast. He stepped away from the station in 2021 to pursue his love for storytelling at KDVR in Denver, Colorado, where he worked as a news anchor (from October 2021 to August 2023), while reporting on breaking news events, including the Marshall Fire (2021), Club Q shooting (2022), and other high-profile stories. This coverage, on the other hand, garnered him an Emmy Award. Occasionally, he also holds three other Emmy Awards, which he received for his contributions to reporting on the Marshall Fire and the Club Q mass shooting while in Colorado.

Notably, before transitioning into a full-time journalist, Short had interned at several stations, including CSN Chicago (from June 2015 to September 2015), CBS Chicago (from June 2016 to August 2016), and ABC 7 Chicago (from January 2017 to May 2017).
