Layman serves as a Montana This Morning reporter/anchor at KBZK CBS 7 (Z7), Bozeman, Montana, United States. Chet was originally employed in 1989 to open a news bureau in Bozeman for KXLF. Over the next 10 years, Chet would operate his way up the system to a producer, anchor, and eventually news director. Chet also reported sports “In the Zone” for KCTZ, which would, one day, become KBZK.
Chet left the news business in the late 90s to study for a degree in Child Development from Montana State University, and he spent almost ten years teaching kindergarten at the child care center in Belgrade owned by him and his wife.
Since his return to television news in 2011 April, Chet has anchored, produced, and reported News, Weather, and Sports for each of KBZK’s news programs. Meeting people and telling stories are still where his interest lies.
He is a Former Sports Play-by-Play at KBOZ Radio.
When he isn’t on-air, Chet accompanies the Belgrade High School sports teams around as the “Voice of the Panthers”, a title he’s carried with pride since 1996. He also rides his bike around southwest Montana or hikes the area’s trails with friends and family.
