Deskins serves as a Chief Meteorologist at 10 News WTSP. He joined the WTSP team in February 2009. Bobby loves the weather, the individuals, and the endless things to do in the Tampa Bay area. Summertime storms are his favorite as he enjoys watching the storms build each day and as bad as hurricanes can be, he does enjoy the forecasting struggles they present. Bobby is a Rays fan and a big Lightning and gets to as many Bucs games as possible. Above all, he loves the water and the warm climate.
Bobby was born in Indian Head, MD, but he has lived in southern California, Wilmington, NC, and New Bern, NC. Upon graduating from college, he commenced forecasting as an intern at WWAY TV3 in Wilmington, NC. Bobby got his first career at WCTI TV12 in New Bern, NC where he did mornings. He relocated to Tampa and WTSP in January of 2009 Monday thru Friday on The Morning Show. Bobby has forecasted all types of weather throughout his career, spanning snowstorms, severe weather, and of course hurricanes.
He has earned the CBM certification from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and is part at Large for the West Central Florida chapter of the AMS. Bobby also obtained an AP award for Best Weathercast and won a national award for Best Video from Weather Central. He is a part of the National Weather Association and visits countless area schools each year. When not working, he loves to surf, snowboard, spearfish, scuba dive, and just be in the water.
