While working in Macon, he received the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist distinction. At the time, he was the youngest meteorologist to earn the AMS CBM.
After working for almost 3 years at WMAZ, Austin was prepared to take the next step in his career. He arrived at WHIO and Storm Center 7 for the first time in 2021. Austin got to experience all of the severe weather the Miami Valley had to offer: Flooding, heat waves, Tornadoes, and, of course, snowstorms. In addition to chasing storms as a meteorologist, Austin also hosted WHIO’s Touchdown 7 High School Football Highlight show.
In 2023, Austin was promoted to WSOC in Charlotte, North Carolina, and returned to WHIO in August of 2023 as Chief Meteorologist. He is thrilled to lead Storm Center 7 and bring you the weather every night, rain or shine. Austin returns to the Miami Valley with his wife, their two cats, Joel and Ridley, and their dog Magnolia. He is excited to make the Miami Valley his home for years to come.”
