Bender works at FOX Weather as a field correspondent and meteorologist. He arrived at FOX Weather as a Miami-based field correspondent in 2021. Most recently, he toured Glasgow, Scotland where he covered the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26. Before joining the streaming service, Steve reported for three years as the morning meteorologist at KRNV-TV (NBC/Sinclair) in Reno, Nevada.
From 2014-2018, he served as the morning news anchor for KTAL-TV (NBC/Nexstar) in Shreveport, Louisiana where he reported on severe weather patterns hitting the Gulf Coast. Steve earlier worked for WABG-TV (ABC-FOX/Cox) in Greenville, Mississippi as an evening meteorologist and an anchor. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, he went ahead to earn his Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
