Miranda Derrick and the allegations in Dancing for the Devil

Miranda and her husband James, in 2020 began working with 7M Firms, after getting introduced by Derricks’s videographer, Isaih Shinn, Robert Shinn’s son. The duo became deeply engaged with the agency and the Shekinah church, even allegedly moving into a property owned by Shinn.

This move in Miranda’s life raised concern for her sister and family, who felt uncomfortable with the control Robert Shinn appeared to exert over the dancers. In early 2021,  Miranda commenced distancing herself from her family, refusing to go back home to Michani, even for her granddad’s funeral.

However, Melanie, her parents Kelly, and Dean Wilking posted a video in public on  February 2022 stating that they had not seen or heard from Miranda in over a year and she was involved in a religious group, in what they called a “cult.” In the video, Miranda’s sister, Melanie Wilking said she had been part of the group and church but had left the organization.

Despite the allegations, Both Miranda and the company denied that she and her husband James, who also goes by BDash, are involved in a cult
with her saying that her separation from them was of her own volition. However, she has not made any public statement concerning the new Netflix docuseries, Dancing for the Devil.

Further, her recent Instagram post discloses that she attended her sister’s wedding on the 24th of May 2024 and, following that controversial moment, it seems She is now on friendlier terms with her family.
