He has worked at the MTN network since 1988. His first day on the job back in August of 1988 was reporting a wildfire south of Helena and Mike hooked and found television broadcasting was his calling in life. August of 2018 will be his three-decade anniversary with the MTN network.
Mike actually commenced his broadcast career well before shifting up to KXLF in the late 80s serving for KBOW/KOPR radio through high school and was a weekend DJ for KBOW. In 1990 KXLF, he returned to a full local half-hour newscast at 5:30 pm and 10 pm and needed knowledge of weather to complete a full local news team and a personality with good ab-lib skills.
Mike consumes most of his free time training his Labrador retrievers for American Kennel ClubHunt Tests and Field Trials. He tours around the western U.S. acquiring hunt test names and field trial titles in hopes of running national retriever events. Mike recently began powerlifting and has competed in several USAPL local meets in hopes of one day hitting a 400-pound deadlift and squat.
