He joined the 6 News family in July 2016 as a news and sports reporter, and fill-in sports anchor, prior to moving up to Sports Reporter/Weekend Sports Anchor in Aug. 2019. He was appointed as a Sports Director in Nov. 2020.
In 2017, Quillin won second place sports Anchor Texas AP Broadcasters Awards. He was called to the 2018 Texas Association of School Boards Media Honor Roll and earned the Salado High School football program’s 2018 Contribution to the Game Award.
In the 2019 Texas AP Broadcasters Awards, he earned 1st place sports anchor, 1st place sports story, 2nd place sports story, 1st place sportscast, and was a member of the 2nd place sports special for 6 Sports’ Week 9 Friday Night Lights live from Tiger Stadium in Rockdale.
Quillin is also a member of the Football Writers Association of America, the U.S. National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and the Basketball Writers Association.
The School of Media & Strategic Communications faculty named him the top senior on his degree track in the spring of 2016. While attending OSU, Quillin earned numerous awards with the Broadcast Education Association, National Broadcasting Society, and Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association.
When he’s not breaking stories or featuring the stories of coaches, athletes, and fans in Central Texas, he is an active basketball and football official with the Texas Association of Sports Officials and Texas High School Basketball Officials Association.
