Prior to South Bend, Kirk served as a news reporter at KSPR-TV in Springfield, Missouri, and WFJW-TV in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Kirk’s wife was raised in Southwest Michigan and graduated from Michigan State. The twosome have two sons.
