Prior to landing her first job in Wilmington, North Carolina at WECT, Kellie concluded two newscaster internships – at WFMZ-TV and at FOX 29 in Philadelphia the summer. Kellie worked at WECT for almost five years in the coastal Carolinas and loved every minute! Her work was to guide southeast North Carolina through hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, and snow. She was delighted to take breaks in between to enjoy many sunny beach days. Her most memorable weather event was an Emmy-nominated 80+ hours reporting Hurricane Florence in 2018 and most recently a rare EF-3 tornado in February of 2021.
Apart from predicting, Kellie likes to talk and visit schoolchildren. She also likes the ocean. She has flown a helicopter, taken surf lessons, and willingly gone into a rip current to teach lessons about beach safety.
