Eileen Davidson’s TV Career Background

Davidson’s TV career began in 1982, when she first featured in The Phoenix, an American science fiction television series which premiered on ABC on March 19, 1982. She then started becoming a familiar face on the television screens after featuring on The Young and the Restless, as Ashley Abbott, becoming one of the key members of the show. Later in December 1988, Davidson decided to exit the show, with the producers accepting her recommendation to hire Brenda Epperson, a look-alike actress, whom she had seen working as a waitress at a charity event.

In 1990, Davidson moved to Primetime Television, where she featured in her show, Broken Badges, which was later cancelled in 1991. After the brief stint with Primetime Television, Davidson returned to daytime, where she took over the role of Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara from November 1991 until the series concluded in January 1993. She then featured as Kristen Blake on Days of Our Lives beginning in May 1993. As the show continued, Davidson played another role as Susan Banks, a Kristen look-alike. Davidson was also assigned an additional three roles, having been expected to play as Thomas, Penelope, and Sister Mary Moira. Kristen, one of her roles, planned to trap her other character, Susan, as a prisoner on an island. However, Susan managed to prevail over her, leaving Kristen on the island until she made her comeback in Salem in 2012.

Following a year away from acting, Davidson made her comeback to The Young and the Restless in March 1999, assuming her previous role as Ashley Abbott. However, Davidson was fired from the show, stating that she was fired from The Young and the Restless due to a lack of storyline, while in an interview with TV Guide. A few months later, in an unexpected turn, Davidson agreed to a three-year deal with The Bold and the Beautiful, the sister show of The Young and the Restless, assuming her role as Ashley Abbott. This move came at the request of executive producer Bradley Bell. She first appeared on the show on March 9, 2007.

Sony Pictures Saga

In July 2008, Eileen transitioned to a recurring role on The Bold and the Beautiful. Shortly after, she resumed her full-time position as Ashley on The Young and the Restless, beginning September 26, 2008. Later in 2012, Nelson Branco reported that Sony Pictures Entertainment aimed to have Davidson appear on both The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. However, Y&R declined to share her, leading Sony to terminate her contract with them. As a result, Davidson confirmed that she was to return as Kristen Blake DiMera on Days of Our Lives.

On June 17, 2014, Davidson signed a contract to return to The Young and the Restless. Her two-year contract allowed her to continue appearing on Days of Our Lives, as well as having the option of taking a break if her schedule became too tight.
