“Living in Oconomowoc gave him the chance to experience some extreme weather conditions. When the weather turned nasty, Drew loved to watch the great television personalities in Milwaukee tell him the story,” Burgoyne expressed. “He was lucky to discover what he wanted to do since middle school, so Drew was able to prepare himself for a profession in television at a very young age.”
He graduated from Northern Illinois University earning a degree in meteorology and a minor in journalism. While in university, Drew served as a reporter and meteorologist for CNN Local Headline news in DeKalb, Ill. He transferred to northwest Arkansas in 2002 and accepted a job on the ABC 40/29 weather team. In 2003 Drew won the AMS seal of approval and in 2006 he was promoted to Chief Meteorologist for 40/29.
It’s difficult to believe Drew is celebrating five years in his position as chief meteorologist at CBS 58 this coming year. He stands behind his one significant mission of “getting you ready” with an exact forecast you can live by every single day of your life.
Drew resides in Wauwatosa with his wife and his two children. And when he is not eyeing the weather, he’s busy rooting for his children at all those gymnastics meets. Parents, you can likely relate.
