Maher works as a Weekend Meteorologist at WGGB-TV, Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Additionally, he was delighted to join the Western Mass News family in October 2012 and predict the weather in the area he has settled all of his life.

Raised in Western Massachusetts, First Warning Meteorologist Maher remembers weather events such as the Windsor Locks, the CT tornado, Hurricane Gloria, the Blizzard of ’78, and Hurricane Bob. Upon experiencing all of those events, he knew he wanted to foretell the weather in his home state.

Don had been operating in sales for countless years but realized he would not be delighted unless he was doing what he had dreamed about since he was a kid. He concluded it was finally time to make that change.

Upon graduating from Mississippi State University, Don interned at WSHM-TV in Springfield where he earned valuable experience forecasting New England weather. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
