White was born on January 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois. She was the daughter of Horace Logan White and Christine Tess. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was an executive in a lighting company. She didn’t have any siblings, as she was the only child.
She went to Horace Mann Elementary School. After she joined Beverly Hills High School where she graduated in 1939. She got an interest when it came to writing and wrote a play at Horace Mann School. When the United States had World War II she volunteered to join American Women’s Voluntary Services.
This is where she met Dick Barker. The two got married after the war was over and they moved to Belle Center, Ohio. They got divorced after a year after he enjoyed a simple life but she was not okay with that. She got married again in 1947 when she married Lane Allen, but they divorced after 2 years as he wanted children while she was all for her career.
In 1963 she got married for the third time to Allen Ludden. He was a television personality and a host as they met in his show Password. They did not have children but she became his children’s stepmother. Ludden had children with his late wife Magret McGloin Ludden who passed away after battling Stomach cancer. After that, she did not get married again reason was that she had gotten the best and needed to rest.
