Prior to working in the NBC Bay Area, Alyssa worked at KXAN as a dedicated multiplatform journalist and digital reporter for 5 years and 1 month. While there, she covered general assignment news as well as higher education. In addition, Alyssa writes, shoots, and edits her reports, and she always looks for new ways to share stories digitally.
Alyssa lands at KXAN from West Texas where she operated at KAMC-TV in Lubbock. At KAMC, she served as a weekend anchor/producer and reporter, reporting everything from the blizzard that shut down the city of Lubbock in 2015 to visits from Governor Greg Abbott, Ron Paul, and Laura Bush. Alyssa was her station’s lead reporter on the Holli Jeffcoat murder case which directed her to report many of the changes occurring in the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Additionally, she extensively reported on Texas Tech University, covering the implementation of the Campus Carry policy, the attempt to build a Texas Tech veterinary school, and the effects of immigration policies on students.
While at Lubbock, she served at NBC Bay Area as a junior web producer and production assistant. At NBC Bay Area, Alyssa reported events in 2014 like the Napa earthquake and the Giants’ World Series win.
While at college, Alyssa discovered her love for journalism through internships with PBS News Hour in Washington, D.C., and NBC Bay Area’s Investigative Unit. Alyssa enjoys running, meeting new people, hiking, following Bay Area sports teams, and singing at the top of her lungs in her car.
