Immediately, she was taken to the hospital and found to be suffering from a hematoma, which required her to undergo brain surgery. Unfortunately, Quintana was not in a position to go through it successfully and thus died during the process. Didion’s daughter, Quintana Roo, died while at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
