Vitagliano is an American journalist currently working as a Supervising Producer for CNN since December of 2014. In addition, he works as a Field Producer and PM Desk Manager/Senior Assignment Editor since June 1998.
Previously, he worked as an Assignment Editor for CNN from March 2000- September 2002. During his time with CNN, he has covered major news stories such as the September 11th terror attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the Newtown, CT shootings, and the collapse of Enron.
Brian was a finalist for the 2011 New York Festival Television and Film Awards for his coverage of “The Journey Home,” a continuing news story. With CNN Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr, he photographed and produced this three-part series about the journey American troops and women take after being injured in Afghanistan.
In 1998, he began his career with CNN Financial News. He began his career on the assignment desk, where he managed photojournalists and coordinated satellite feeds before moving on to become a field producer. From there, he has risen to Senior producer and now to the supervising producer with each role having different responsibilities.
